IHE CHUKWU DERE, ODEGO YA!
On the 18th day of the month of August, 2017, the truth told itself as the good people of Eziawa kingdom in Orsu Local Government Area of Imo State, Nigeria marched in their shoes of joy.
It indeed was a long run which started about four (4) years ago following the departure of an Icon and altruist Late Eze Joseph U. Nzegwu, who held the kingship staff of Eziawa kingdom for less than four years.
The eternal embarkation of the late king left the people of the blessed Eziawa kingdom disheveled without a traditional authority. Since the ancient and modern method of enthronement of any traditional head in the kingdom has it to be a simultaneous measure which by right respectively rotates according to the villages of the kingdom, hence the need for Urualla Village to provide the next king.
However, Urualla Village has two major arrowhead kindred, Elugwu Urualla and Uhuala Uruala. Elugwu Urualla had over the years provided Late Eze Dominic O. Iloanya, the immediate predecessor of Late Eze Joseph U. Nzegwu. Following the grant of autonomy to Amakpara village which supposed in turn and by right project the new traditional head, few years ago, the pendulum yet swung back to Urualla village. This brought about a long term injustice, fracas, and saga of disunity among the two Urualla Village arrowhead kindred, and the entirety of Eziawa kingdom.
Contrarily having the ancient laid-down-method followed, the people of Elugwu Urualla kindred vehemently projected Ichie John Odimegwu contradicting the years ancient and modern adopted style for enthronement. Chief Chukwuka Agbordike truly, and by being the people's choice was also projected by his people of Uhuala Urualla kindred. This clash partially arose a temporary brotherhood disorder between the two kindred.
The issue, suffering a lot of misjudgements, mischiefs, deception, blackmails, misconception and dishonesty, was taken to the state government, His Excellency Gov. Rochas Okorocha for the ultimate directive, which was passed to be an exercise of electoral rights.
Come and gone the proposed day of the election, the entirety of Eziawa Autonomous Community under the conduct of the delegated body sent by the state government, happily gathered, and were queued up at Akpanya, the central of the Town, to exercise their electoral rights and ascertain the emergence of the new king. The head counts were thoroughly taken by the delegates (who were under the security of the Nigerian Armed Force) after hours of convergence. Pandemonium broke loose when the result was withheld. A mob who angrily attacked the delegates demanding for the result of the duly conducted election, also suffered a teargassed atmosphere and sporadic gunshots in the air as they
Jousted to flee the environment.
However, the result of the conducted election was claimed to be secretly fabricated and modified in favour of Chief John Odimegwu. On the STAFFING day at Owerri, the capital city of Imo State, about 80% of people of the kingdom of Eziawa who were noted to be the supporters of justice, and well-wishers of Chief Chukwuka Agbordike stormed the venue and interrupted the staffing ceremony by voicing aloud their interests in Chief Chukwuka Agbordike, thereby declined and rejected the fabricated result to governor's notice. The governor being a good listener of opinions, gave another ultimatum which was to be conducted by 'dicing and picking'.
On Friday, 18th August , 2017, the new king finally emerged. The YES and NO papers were respectively picked by the two contestants. The YES emerged. In celebration, many people of Eziawa kingdom were captured as they celebrated the new king of the kingdom.
The truth told itself. The new king had emerged. Eziawa Autonomous Community after about a four year run without a traditional anchorage rejoiced again for their dreams come true that moment when Chief Chukwuka Agbordike picked the paper with boldly written YES.
IGWEE... EZE OCHINANWATA IGA ADI O.
MAY YOU LIVE LONG MY KING! The good people of the kingdom exclaimed in joy.
To God be the glory.
I am,
Igwilo Nnaemeka Maxwell-Brendan
